Our approach

Designing virtual experiences is a radically new discipline not well reflected in traditional user experience practices commonly employed in desktop or mobile design.

Rather, it is a discipline more akin to product design, where the user is being exposed to multiple modes of sensory input and spatial cues which must be mediated and modulated for an effective user experience.

Composit has been researching best practices and producing virtual reality experiences since 2014, when the current wave of consumer virtual reality tech made its big comeback.

Our approach

We design immersive experiences with precision, purpose and care. Whether it's virtual reality, augmented reality, or a blend of both, our process is grounded in deep technical expertise and a user-first philosophy.

We lead with understanding

Before a single line of code is written, we start by listening. Every project begins with discovery—getting to know your goals, your audience, and the story you want to tell. We believe great immersive design comes from understanding not just the tech, but the people who will use it.

We design with intention

Immersive media should feel seamless and intuitive. Our design process prioritises clarity, emotional resonance, and spatial usability. We sketch, prototype and test early—working in VR or AR as soon as possible to make sure each interaction feels natural and grounded.

We build on proven platforms

Our technical stack is battle-tested. We work in Unity, using frameworks like the Meta XR SDK and AR Foundation to ensure stability and performance across platforms like Meta Quest and mobile AR. Behind the scenes, we write efficient code, manage assets carefully, and deliver polished builds ready for public use.

We test in the real world

User experience is everything. That’s why we test regularly—with real people, in real environments. From warehouse floors to retail mirrors, we make sure every experience holds up under real-world conditions.

We collaborate closely

Whether we're part of a larger team or leading the project end-to-end, we work transparently and collaboratively. You’ll be involved in key decisions, see progress as it happens, and have space to contribute your ideas along the way.

We care about craft

AR and VR are still evolving, and so are the standards of quality. We hold ourselves to a high bar—visually, technically and experientially. Every detail matters, from the responsiveness of a button to the lighting in a virtual room.
